Summer 2017 update: showing squiggles etc.

Happy summer!

LONG TIME NO SEE

-It's been a couple of years since the last art update. I hope you're all doing well. Everything's fine here. Most of my art efforts since 2015 have been focused on the cooperative gallery I helped set up, called The Front. I'm proud of how it's turning out, and I encourage you to sign up for The Front's mailing list if for some reason you don't get enough email, or if you miss my old updates.

I'M SHOWING SQUIGGLES AT THE LIBRARY AUGUST 1st-28th...

-I got myself a show at the Kellogg-Hubbard Library here in Montpelier. It's one of my favorite places in town: there are casts of Donatello, Luca della Robbia and the Parthenon's bas-reliefs all around the ceiling. So come see my paintings, and if you don't like them, just look up at the sculptures, or find a book. I'll show a recent series of watercolor landscapes I call squiggles. I left out definite objects and spaces, but tried to leave in sensations of place and time. There's an opening reception: come help me eat crackers and cheese in the library on Friday 4 August, 6:00-8:00 PM.

...AND AT THE FRONT TOO...

-Show 19 will open at The Front on the 28th of July; I'll be showing one or two new paintings there alongside my 16 fellow members. We pride ourselves on strong variety, and it's always fun to talk with the artists at the reception. Come by on Friday 28 July, 5:00-8:00 PM; we'll have drinks and food and probably some music.

...AND I WON'T SHUT UP ABOUT THEM

-I'll give a brief talk at The Front, about my recent work, on Wednesday evening August 2nd, starting at 7:00 PM. My fellow Front artist Daryl Burtnett will be talking too, about his own work. Come heckle!

LIFE DRAWING SURVIVES

-I'm surprised and pleased to report that people continue to draw with me from live models every week or two. A few things have changed: my drawing sessions now run every OTHER week, Thursdays 7-9 at the Wood Gallery here in Montpelier. On alternate Thursdays, the space is used by Billy Brauer's painting group. You should all come to both groups. Send me an email for more details.

I miss you, even if it's been so long I can't remember exactly who you are. Come visit and remind me.
